Coming Up With Business Ideas

  • Start with things that interest you
  • Every idea is a good idea at the beginning
  • Determine if you want to spend enough time on the idea to make it successful
  • Hypothesis about the audience and the need
  • Test
  • Continue if hypothesis is proven
  • Pivot if tests reveal that some of your assumptions are correct, but the hypothesis needs to change
  • Test Again
  • Start Over if hypothesis completely fails

Actions to take before you move on

  • Write down every idea you have in one place (a notebook or digital document)
  • Categorize your ideas into groups (potential money makers, large enough audience, ideas you would like to pursue.  Each ideas can be tagged with more than one category.  The ideas that fit into that are tagged with the most categories are the ones you should start with first in the validation phase.
